This year marks the 10th year that Suzy's Swirl will be raising funds for the American Heart Association. It is our great honor to do this in memory of my husband, Joe and father to our four kids Jen, Joe, Jim and Julie. On October 1, 2011 Joe suddenly passed away from cardiac arrest! It is in this sudden tradgedy that we learned how grief and joy can coexist. Joe left us with so many gifts or as I call "tools in our tool chest." Our family continues to enjoy fishing, grilling outside, watching Cubs games and Bears games and we always smile when we see an
Emcor Mechanical truck - TEAM Mechanical (Joe was part owner). Our small family is growing in leaps and bounds with new engagements and weddings in the near future! We are still navigating the journey of how grief and joy coexist! Even though it is bittersweet that Joe is not physically here to be with us, I have no doubt, that Joe is watching over us and is so proud of where his family is today!
We believe that the American Heart Association is an amazing organization to partner with to honor Joe! The American Heart Association is a nonprofit organization in the United States that funds cardiovascular medical research, educates people on healthy living and appropriate cardic care. This organization is trying to reduce disability and deaths caused by cardiovascular disease and stroke. Any and all donations made to AHA help fund lifesaving research, advocate for better health, improve patient care and reach at-risk populations. The American Heart Association offers many programs too, such as, Heartsaver Hero, CPR & First Aid training and Apps along with Be the Beat to help teachers and school administrators have in school training programs.
It is with your kind donations to the AHA that will ensure that this nonprofit can continue to help you, me and so many others! Suzy's Swirl is selling hearts for $1, $3, $5 or an any amount in-store and online. With your help and support last year we raised over $3500.00 dollars and it is our goal to raise $5000.00 this year! $5000.00 is a significant amount to raise, I know together we will reach our goal!
