Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Sundaes with Sue

Who is St. Patrick and why do we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? says that St. Patrick was born in Roman, Britain and was brought to Ireland as a slave when he was 16. He then escaped, returned to Ireland and was credited for bringing Christianity to its people! He died on March 17, 461

Since the 9thor 10thcentury, people in Ireland have been observing the Roman Catholic Feast Day of St. Patrick on March 17th. The first actual St. Patrick’s Day parade wasn’t in Ireland; it was actually in the United States. On March 17, 1762, Irish soldiers serving in the English military marched through the streets of New York. They were singing Irish songs and connecting back to their Irish Roots!

St. Patrick’s Day will always be a special day for me! Part is because I am Irish! The other part is because it is the day I became engaged to Joe! On March 17th, 1983 (I’m aging myself) there was a snowstorm, my parents were flying home from a trip overseas and Joe decided this was the day! Joe’s side of the family is Italian, but he always celebrated St. Patrick’s Day like he as an Irishman. At an Italian restaurant, in the middle of a snowstorm, on St. Patrick’s Day – I said Yes!

May your troubles be less and your blessings be more and nothing but Happiness come through your door!
