Hello October!!

I don't know about you, I feel like September came and went in a blink of an eye! Now it's October and I feel like we have suddenly been thrown into the Holiday Season! I went into a wonderful craft and homegood store this past week and they were already decked out in all things Christmas! On step more, their Christmas decorations are on sale! Let us slow this down!

The month of October is such a mix of emtions for so many! For me and my family October 1st is the day my husband passed away 11 years ago! How fast 11 years has gone by! During these past 11 years we have learned to live with both grief and joy! We have also been blessed to see our family grow with babies, kids and new daughter-in-laws!

October 1st is also the beginning of Breast Cance Awareness Month! Our very own Hannah B. of 102.3 XLC family has been touched by Breast Cancer, her Mother, is a 20 year Breast Cancer Survivor! Recently this week Katie Couric, formly of the Today Show, shared that she too, has been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She will be sharing her personal story tomorrow on the Today Show. I have to believe that we all know someone who has been touched by Breast Cancer! An alarming statistic is that Breast Cancer is the second most common cancer among women! Make your appointments now!

With all of that said, I really so enjoy October very much! The cooler weather, sweatshirts, fall leaves, everything pumpkin, corn mazes, apple picking.... the list goes on and on! Finally Halloween too! It's something how our entire being can change during this month! We wear warm and cozy clothes, we make warm and cozy meals and bring out the blankets!! It's such a cozy month! Let's not be naive, we also know that in the Midwest, winter is quickly approaching too! Let's all hope we have a long Indian Summer, at least until January!! LOL!!

I hope you are all able to take a few moments and enjoy all of the wonders of October! As we all know, time goes by so fast. Take time to talk to your neighbors, check in on those who may need a little pick me up, bake an apple pie and take a nice cool walk before the sun goes down! Definitely make the time to get your Mammogram!
