The Fall Flavor Debate....

Fall is definitely in the air, leaves are starting to turn shades of red and gold and fall flavors are swirling all around us! Currently taking center stage: apples and pumpkins! Are you firmly in the “Everything Apple” camp, loving the sweet perfectly crisp fruit? Or do you find yourself perfectly planted in the “Everything Pumpkin” camp, savoring the richness of this beloved gourd?

When I think of fall, I reminisce on our family tradition of apple picking! I can’t keep count on all of the apples we have picked over the years! The fun of running around the orchard and picking only the best-looking apples off the tree branches! Then having to carry those very heavy bags back to the car! Of course, we couldn’t leave the orchard without warm and sugary apple cider donuts, sweet apple butter and anything else apple!

I can’t help it, when I think of fall, I also have such great memories of pumpkin picking too! It is quite an art picking just the right pumpkin to be able to take it home and carve! Would you pick a tall pumpkin or a big round one? Would you carve it or would you paint it? So many choices! In our family we always carved the pumpkins, it was so much fun scooping out the seeds and attempting to roast the seeds without burning them! The kids always looked forward to lighting the candle inside their pumpkin and watching it glow at night on the front porch!

Let us not forget all of the amazing and delicious flavors that both apples and pumpkins bring us this fall season. From sweet apple pies, donuts, taffy apples and apple cider to the creamy pumpkin pies, breads, donuts and pumpkin spiced lattes there is a never-ending list of yumminess!!

As the leaves turn and the air grows crisper, let’s raise a glass to the wonders of fall. Whether you find yourself in the “Everything Apple” camp or firmly in the “Everything Pumpkin” camp, one thing is for sure,

there’s no shortage of deliciousness to be had! Embrace the season and traditions, savor the flavors, and enjoy the magic of fall!

Dear Pumpkin Spice Lovers,

You are Wrong!

Sincerely Apples
